Unfortunately i seem to have been abandoning this blog...so here is a little work in progress i started last night...
The Prince and the Farm Girl
There was once a great kingdom. It was the most beautiful and wealthy of all the kingdoms, but the humans were ashamed of it as it was ruled by the great Demon Lord. They forbade their children from ever entering the demons land and refused all trades and treaties with the great king.
The Demon Lord was a good king, he was fair and true and always put his people before his own will. He had ruled his lands for hundreds of years, and had seen many human kings fall and rise in his time. The humans distaste for him and his people had always unnerved him, but as they never warred against him, he left them as they were. Wishing always that one day they could See eye to eye.
The great king had three children, his eldest son was wise beyond his years and was often sought out for his insight, though still young for a demon he was a great asset to the kingdom. His youngest son was rash and brazen but was brave and fair, like his father, although his childhood naivety and haste showed through in many of his actions he was loved by the people. His daughter was his youngest child, the great kings mate and love had died bringing her into this world and for that the great king doted on her every whim. The girl was quiet and polite but showed a great love for everything around her. The king knew that when his time had come, his kingdom would be in good hands.
The king decided it was time he took his sons to view the kingdom, they had rarely been outside the city and, to become rulers of his lands, they must know every inch of hi kingdom. The king and his two sons left their castle with a small group of soldiers, the kings most loyal, and left to see the smaller provinces. Not two days into their trip the group came under attack.
The attackers hit quickly and quietly, their numbers overpowering the demons as they made camp. The kings guard all fell protecting their lord, all in vain, as their king was left with a spear through his heart along with his eldest son with a sword through his stomach. The youngest son returned from the stream with a large fish and a light heart, they would surely eat well tonight. When he saw his father and brother lying dead with their soldiers his spirits fell. The demon lords had no real enemies within their own lands, and the creatures of other lands left them in peace. The prince drew his sword as he heard footsteps approach. The perpetrators of this act were still here.
The human men were laughing as they approached the clearing, with demons at their side. The prince was horrified to see the two races together in this heinous crime. As the creatures entered the clearing the gasped and drew their weapons, disgusted to see they had failed their mission, the youngest son was still alive. The human male called for help and many more appeared around the clearing. The prince swore, he could not win this battle.
A small tale sort of like a fable or something, made to fit in with the world of my book. Could be the sort of thing a little demon child would hear before they went to bed. Haha. I need to finish it...
